SCI-TALKS (Supporting Community Initiatives for TeAching, Learning, and Knowing Science), funded through a National Science Foundation Grant, utilizes pre-service elementary teachers, partnered with in-service teacher mentors at community-based, after-school programs to deliver engaging student-centered science instruction to elementary students in Appalachia.

SCI-TALKS builds a safe learning environment outside the formal school day where student dialogue, through Science Talks, is integral to improving student interest and learning in STEM.  Building and extending on work previously funded under the NSF Academies for Young Scientists program, SCI-TALKS will impact at least 300 students and 88 educators.

SCI-TALKS is a project of Marshall Univeristy and West Virginia State University that is funded through a grant from the National Science Foundation ITEST Program.
